Union County VINE Participation
The Union County Jail page spells out the county's role plainly. The facility takes part in V.I.N.E.S., which notifies registered users automatically when an offender is released. That is straight from the sheriff's own site. What the page does not do is promise public searches for every booking. It also does not publish the fields a search returns or say a photo comes with a result.
Naming gets a little messy here. The county page says V.I.N.E.S. Statewide materials and the public portal say VINE and VINELink. All three point to the same notification service and its public doorway. Treat it as a custody-status and alert tool for Union County. The Sheriff's booking roster answers one question. The Clerk's case file and Florida Department of Corrections data each answer different ones.
Search Union County Custody on VINELink
Start at the official portal, pick Florida, and enter the person. A full legal name plus any identification number cuts down false matches. Spelling counts. Several records may come back. Weigh the jurisdiction, facility, status, and identifier before clicking a similar-looking name.
- Open VINELink’s custody search and select Florida.
- Enter the person’s name or an identification number accepted by the service.
- Review all close matches and confirm that the jurisdiction or facility fits Union County.
- Open the matching record and read its current status and last supplied event.
- Register for alerts from the correct record if continuing notice is needed.
The search screen shown here is the state's public entry point, blank and free of personal data. It displays no private details and names no one arrested.

That blank screen is the right first stop for a one-person custody question.
The application route may shift. If it does, the VINELink home page still lets you select the state again. Steer around look-alike services. The sheriff's office lists no official jail app. A generic inmate application is not the county's tool.
Union County VINELink Result Fields
What a result shows depends on the agency supplying the data and the event itself. Florida materials describe alerts for release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement. Current custody status appears as well. An inmate identifier and the responsible facility often appear too. Fields can differ case by case.
| Result element | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | Details used to distinguish the matched custody record. |
| Custody status | The status most recently supplied by the participating agency. |
| Facility or agency | The office associated with the record or event. |
| Release event | Notice that custody ended as reported to the service. |
| Transfer or movement | A change in place or custody event, not a court judgment. |
| Notification options | Available channels for registering on that record. |
A "no match" answer does not mean no arrest happened. The booking may be too fresh, the name may be entered differently, or the person may sit in another jurisdiction whose system feeds a different VINE population. And release from Union County Jail does not erase the booking record or settle the charge.
Note: VINELink status reflects agency data and can lag; call the holding office when safety or time makes immediate confirmation essential.
Register Union County Custody Alerts
Registration attaches to one chosen custody record. Florida materials list phone, text, email, app, and TTY channels, depending on what's offered. Phone registration hinges on a four-digit PIN. Pick one you can recall. Others should never guess it. You may need it to confirm receipt of a phone alert.
- Verify the correct person, state, agency, and record before starting registration.
- Select an offered notification method, such as phone, text, or email.
- Enter the required contact information accurately.
- Create and retain the requested four-digit PIN for phone notification.
- Complete confirmation steps and save the registration details in a secure place.
- Keep the contact method active and update it through the official service if it changes.
The VINELink registration route appears below. Never submit someone else's contact details or share a PIN in a public message.

Florida VINE Phone Options
The FDC victim notification page lists Florida VINE at 1-877-846-3435. The line runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. FDC Victim Services sits at 1-877-884-2846 during weekday business hours. A Florida brochure adds 1-877-VINE-4-FL and TTY 1-866-847-1298. These are statewide notification lines, not the UCSO Records Unit. Telephone registration can be anonymous, per FDC materials. The service ties automatic notices to the registered phone number when inmate movement changes. You still need the right person and record. Listen to the whole message and enter the PIN as instructed. Call the responsible facility if anything seems unclear. The official Florida notification page appears below.

That page documents statewide mechanics; the UCSO jail page separately confirms Union County participation.
Union County Alert Systems Differ
The UCSO home page links out to Facebook, YouTube, Everbridge county alerts, Florida offender alerts, and FDLE resources. Those channels serve different jobs. Everbridge handles community-wide emergency notices. Sheriff social accounts post selected public-safety announcements. Neither platform follows a routine booking-photo schedule, and neither can replace a named-person custody check.
| Channel | Proper use |
|---|---|
| VINELink | Named-person custody status and available change alerts |
| Everbridge | General county or emergency alerts, not booking lookup |
| UCSO social pages | Selected agency announcements, not a complete roster |
| FDLE alerts | State alert or registry functions, not county jail intake |
| UCSO Records | Specific releasable booking and release records |
The sheriff's office publishes no jail-information app. If one surfaces later, check the publisher, the Florida county, and whether it offers alerts or a real booking search before trusting it.
Union County VINELink Limits
VINELink has firm limits. It is not a criminal-history archive, a court database, or a reliable booking-photo source. Federal Bureau of Prisons custody sits outside its reach. Immigration detainees must be searched through the separate ICE Online Detainee Locator System instead, and a Union County arrestee transferred elsewhere may only appear in the new custodian's system. Fresh bookings can lag in the network, too. For an arrest that just happened, start with the Union County same-day arrest process and call the UCSO Records Unit at (386) 496-2501. Ask directly whether the person was booked at Union County Jail and whether they remain there, were released, or moved. A news story naming Lake Butler or Raiford does not tell you who the custodian is now. Sentenced prisoners require a different tool. The Florida Department of Corrections offender search covers felony offenders in state prison or on state supervision, and it excludes county-jail inmates entirely. For Union County court filings and disposition, the Clerk's OCRS portal is the source. No single lookup answers all four stages.
Read Union County Custody Changes
Read each notice exactly as labeled. Release means the person left the reported custody, not that the charge went away. Transfer means the person moved or a new agency took over. That is not freedom either. Out-to-court covers movement for a court event. Escape and death are separate events defined in Florida notification materials.
- Custody
- Physical control by a jail, prison, or other holding authority.
- Release
- Departure from that reported custody under the recorded method.
- Transfer
- Movement to another facility or authority.
- PIN
- The four-digit code used in phone-alert confirmation.
- Disposition
- The court’s later resolution of the case.
Write down the date, time, facility, and exact event wording. Then confirm the record with the listed custodian. If a release alert arrives unexpectedly, contact the facility or an appropriate support service rather than relying on repeated VINE calls alone.
Custody Status Is Not Guilt
A VINE match reports custody and nothing more. Match identity carefully before acting on any alert. Protect your registration information as well. For the court outcome, use the Union County Clerk record. VINELink earns its place through timely notice, yet its role stays narrow: status updates for one custody record.
